FAQs
Great question. Site location was a key factor. The Foundation spent more than a year working with stakeholders to identify a potential location. There are not many properties in Millard that can accommodate a facility this large, much less a vision for an entire community campus. We are very glad to be able to keep this project within Millard without compromising the facility or experiences we want to offer.
One of the concepts we are building into the design of the facility is multi-use space. The 54,000 sq/ft of hard-court space will give the building the flexibility to be used for a wide variety of activities. The ability to handle big groups in one large facility will open the door to many different uses. We are excited about the possibilities this will bring to a wide range of users. One additional benefit of the selected location is the considerable land available for potential future project phases which could include a separate performing arts space with a partner donor.
Spark conveniently stays right at your child’s school! Before and after school care will not be consolidated at the new activity center. Spark before and after school care will continue to be provided at MPS elementary schools. We are excited for the opportunity to create new youth programming that will be held at the facility.
No. The Millard Public Schools Foundation is separate from the school district. We are grateful for the generous donors making this possible for our community. The project is being made possible entirely through private funding and generous donor support without the use of tax dollars.
Very important question! The Millard Public Schools Foundation will oversee the operation of the facility. Sustainability will be supported through key partnerships, organized user groups, youth programming, and rental opportunities, all of which will contribute to ongoing operational funding.
